Aim of training
To provide you with advanced skills to generate solutions related to sewing structure and machine settings and problems. The combination of theoretical and practical knowledge gained will provide a strong basis when working with needles, threads, sewing and machinery.
By the end of this workshop you will have;
- Gained knowledge about needle selection and the efficient use of needles,
- Built an understanding of sewing structure and will be able to select
the most suitable sewing type,
- Learnt the key points of sewing machines,
- Understood how to determine and solve sewing problems related to threads, needles or machinery,
- Learnt how tension apparatus work and be able to adjust them,
- Identified how to come up with practical solutions for possible stitch errors, and will now be able to
- Play a more effective role to “do it right, the first time”
Tests will be given to ensure that knowledge taught can be applied. On successful completion of the course a certificate of completion will be awarded to each student

C.Y. Lam –Senior Technical Training Manager
C.Y. received his bachelor degree of Arts in Clothing at Manchester Metropolitan University, Master of Arts in Clothing Merchandising at Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
CY is also a Chartered Textile Technologist and Associate Member of Textile Institute in UK. C.Y. has been working as a technical services consultant since 1995 as a part of Coats China. He has conducted over hundred customer training seminars and developed projects in cooperation with the customers under this position up until now. As a part of his position, he visits customers in different sectors on a wide geography, and thereby has a chance to learn various methods and innovations.
Also, he is a regular speaker at the Ace Style Institute of Intimate Apparel of Hong Kong Polytechnic University as well as the School of Continuing & Professional Studies of Chinese University of Hong Kong.
C.Y. is well-versed and experienced in sewing yarn technology problems encountered in and solution offers for the ready-made garments. He is specialized in the following product lines: denim products, classic menswear, women outerwear, knitting wear and leather products.
